A Merrily Meg Ryan Thanksgiving
You’ve Got Mail, Sleepless in Seattle, When Harry Met Sally (shoutout to our latest film column!): In my humble opinion, Meg Ryan is synonymous with fall. With Thanksgiving just around the corner, it’s high time we take a lesson or two from Meg Ryan’s lookbook.
Embrace Monochrome
In the final scene of You’ve Got Mail, Ryan wore an all-greige look for the climactic kiss with her love interest, played by Tom Hanks. That color may seem anything but romantic, but layering and a well-fitted dress transformed Ryan into an understated showstopper. If she can pull it off, you can too!
Accept Statement Accessories
Meg Ryan’s fashion in Sleepless in Seattle is generally lackluster, but this statement scarf cannot be ignored. Ryan gave us another lesson in minimalism by using a dark floral print scarf to elevate an otherwise basic outfit. What better way to effortlessly style yourself in the chilly months ahead?
Snuggle Up with a Sweater
When people fantasize about Meg Ryan’s fall fashion, they’re probably thinking about her chunky sweaters in When Harry Met Sally. Tis the season to embrace coziness, my friends. May the warmth be with you!

Book Recommendations📝
In the spirit of the season, I am reminding myself of gratitude, which brings light and meaning to every moment where I would otherwise feel lost. And in that vein, I’ve picked out some works which embody this feeling and for which I am grateful—I hope you will be too.
A 2020 piece on art and friendship and life, this essay by Ann Patchett is both brutal and soft, a rush of feeling and the tenderest of love stories. When wondering about endings, I always recall the following: “It doesn’t. It will. It hasn’t yet.”
Ocean Vuong’s poetry consistently and agonizingly puts into words the things I can never quite figure out how to say. When drifting, I’m grateful “that I woke at all & the hawk up there thought nothing of its wings.”
Nothing hurts as much as anything Fredrik Backman has written. When lost, know that “no one, absolutely no one, would dare tell me you were hard to love.”

Thanksgiving Spread Must-Haves🦃
Welcome back!! In anticipation of one of the best-tasting holidays of the year, I’ve come armed with a list of essentials that will make your Thanksgiving spread legendary for years to come. (PS: I’m not sure what a casserole is.)
Red Drummond’s Honey Roasted Carrots🥕 (Roasted Carrots with Honey Herb Butter Recipe - Best Roasted Carrots): Basic, but so, so hard to get wrong.
Brussels Sprouts🥦 (Roasted Brussels Sprouts Salad with Pomegranate Seeds): A Thanksgiving staple that honestly goes with anything you have leftover from other dishes. Instead of pom seeds, you could use cranberries or nuts. Go crazy!!!
Carbonara mashed potatoes🥔 (Carbonara Mashed Potatoes Recipe | Food Network Kitchen | Food Network): I’m most definitely making this for my family this year, and I’m also most definitely eating all of it.
Cheesy pumpkin orzo🧀 (Spicy Cheddar and Pumpkin Orzo with Arugula Recipe - Sarah Bolla): Orrzo is my absolute favorite pasta; think about the surface area to volume ratio. impeccable.
Unfortunately, I won’t be getting around to every single one of these, but I sincerely hope you all try your hand at these recipes. Send me a brainwave if you like them! 😋

Guys, it’s cold. Like, really cold outside. I’m starting to wonder if it’s fall or winter already. When it’s only 40 degrees, the coat is the outfit. Here are my favorite faux fur jackets that’ll shield you from the winter weather while keeping you stylish.

MUST Watch Films this Thanksgiving!😌🍿
Aftersun – Although not an obvious Thanksgiving pick, going on holiday with one’s father reminds me of my dad and I going to soccer tournaments over Thanksgiving break. This film reinforces reflection, which is what I think Thanksgiving is all about.
Watch Here
When Harry Met Sally – This film is a lighthearted rom-com full of bickering and bluntness. It’s perfect for a holiday watch party with family or friends.
Pitch Perfect – I have a distinct memory of watching this the morning of Thanksgiving circa 2013. The club's fair scene was my first glimpse into what I believed to be college life. If you’re missing campus during Thanksgiving break, try giving this a watch.
