A Valentine’s Day That Doesn’t Beg for a Post

Before you read (listen)🎶: Something That I Want by Grace Potter

Valentine’s Day has a way of turning into a mirror. You look at it, and suddenly you’re measuring your life against dinner reservations, roses, and the kind of love that comes with a caption. But the truth is, the most chic kind of romance has never been loud. It’s quiet. It’s intentional. It’s the feeling of being cared for, without needing to prove it.

So this is your permission slip to do Valentine’s Day differently. Not as a verdict on whether you’re wanted, but as a reminder that tenderness is still yours to claim. You can be in a relationship and still want something softer. You can be single and still be deeply, beautifully held by your own life.

Ins: buying yourself flowers and letting them take up space in your room like they belong there. Wearing something that makes you feel like the main character, even if your plans are just a long shower and clean sheets. Writing a love note, not to a person, but to the version of you that has gotten through more than anyone gives her credit for. Texting the friend who has loved you in the most real ways: the check-ins, the voice notes, the “I’m outside” energy. Making something warm and pretty, even if it’s just pasta in your favorite bowl. A perfume that feels like a secret. A candle that makes the air feel slower. A walk with your headphones in, letting the city blur a little, letting your heart catch up to you.

Outs: panic-planning. Forcing a storyline. Treating softness like it has to be earned. Letting a situationship turn the day into a waiting room. Spending money to feel chosen. Performing happiness instead of practicing it.

If you’re spending the day with someone, make it about presence. Hold hands like you mean it. Put your phone away. Say the thing you usually swallow. If you’re spending it alone, make it about devotion. Not the kind that’s dramatic, but the kind that’s steady. The kind that says: I’m not going to abandon myself just because it’s February 14.

Because romance is not a restaurant. It’s not a bouquet posted at 8 p.m. It’s not a perfect timeline. It’s a way of moving through the world like you deserve tenderness. And you do.

Happy Valentine’s Day.

Paris In Overdriveđź’‹

This was one of those weeks in Paris that doesn’t feel real until it’s already over. It started at the Wuthering Heights Paris premiere, where everyone somehow looked better than they do on the big screen, which feels unimaginable. When Margot Robbie stepped out of the van, I froze. No phone, no thoughts, just shock. The decor was drenched in red, dramatic but elegant, and the Grand Rex Theatre made the whole thing feel larger than life. The film itself was beautiful. The intentional cinematography, strong costuming, and spicy scenes that definitely did what they were meant to do. I highly recommend it!

As if that wasn’t enough, the week ended with the Marty Supreme pop-up Timothée Chalamet randomly announced the day after his Paris premiere. Spent hours in the cold, but no one cared. We made friends in line, shared theories, and waited for the moment. Timothée showed up very chill, while everyone else was very hype. The crowd was losing it and one girl continued yelling “TIMOTHÉE” long after he was gone, as if volume alone might summon him back. Overally, the pop-up was thoughtfully designed and immersive. I left with my Marty Supreme jacket, cold hands, and the quiet satisfaction of knowing the wait were worth it!
