Berklee Student: MMAX Single Release Party - Friday 11th☀️

MMAX is a singer song writer from the Bronx, NYC whose music influences range from artists like Kehlani, H.E.R and Victoria Monet. MMAX likes to create music that everyone can listen + relate to. This new single is a dreamy combination of rnb and indie music, MMAX releases her debut single “Gold and Silver” on April 11th. The song is a smooth listen, with floaty synths and laid back drums. The song takes you through a journey of a person who wants to be with someone completely different from them. Instead of pushing them apart, those differences make the relationship stronger.

The White Lotus: Crazy People in Crazy Good Clothes🌺

The White Lotus season 3 has come to an end, concluding yet another run of amazingly escapist tropical fashion. Though the characters themselves are far from enviable, their closets sure are! Let’s review five of the best looks from the season, danger and drama aside.

Much has been said about K-Pop star Lisa’s acting debut, but such focus on her glamorous past overlooks cute, casual looks like this!

Natasha Rothwell rocked this pink and green dress at one of the season’s many dramatically lit night scenes.

Parker Posey, the perennial parasol queen <3

These over-the-top hats deserve an Emmy of their own.

Aimee Lou Wood stuns in a fiery red bikini during a balmy pool day we’re all dreaming of right now.

This just in: Florals, and for spring. Groundbreaking. No, really — maybe it’s the near-end-of-semester yearning, or maybe it’s something else entirely, but in the midst of this lovely, muddy season, I’m looking for those bits of green.

  1. Whax ‘N Wayne Growing up, I had a fort at the center of a lilac bush, and I’ve been seven years old again every time I smell them. It’s the kind of thing you can’t capture — but Eileen Myles does. “If / only I could buy some Lilacs on a full-moon night and run / here panting and wild. Be something perfect that doesn’t count and change.”

  2. Persuasion If I love Pride and Prejudice for sentimental reasons, I love Austen’s last-completed novel for complicated ones (and don’t talk to me about the 2022 adaptation). Here’s to blooming again, to those who make us “wish nature had made such hearts as [theirs] more common.”

  3. “Peonies”I just couldn’t get through this selection without something by Mary Oliver, obviously. Read her, love her, know that “this morning the green fists of the peonies are getting ready / to break my heart.”

A24 is SERIOUSLY Cooking

Nearly two years after breaking the hearts of moviegoers everywhere with Past Lives, filmmaker Celine Song is returning to theaters with another spell-binding romance, Materialists. The forthcoming A24 film treads into rom-com territory, following a young and successful New York City matchmaker as she’s torn between two very different men. Ahead, we break down everything to know about Materialists.

The trailer introduces an original Japanese Breakfast song … and Johnson as Lucy, a matchmaker who is willing to stop random guys on the street to see if they’re potential customers. Some of her clients have very specific criteria (“nothing over 20 BMI,” “more grown” but still young), while others are a little more open (“I’m trying to settle”). A friend and a celebratory cake inform us that Lucy is responsible for nine marriages — which is shy of Love Is Blind’s record but still pretty good. According to an official synopsis, she’s “torn between the perfect match and her imperfect ex.” It’s pretty easy to tell who’s who: Pascal’s character meets her at an event where Evans’s character is a waiter who already knows her drink order. One man sleeps with her in a $12 million apartment, while the other man lives with roommates but has a rich past with her. She’s entertaining both connections, but her overall stance on relationships seems to be getting more complicated. “I don’t think I’m very good at my job, anymore,” she says at one point, later musing that people get married “because they’re lonely, and because they’re hopeful.”

Materialists will officially hit theaters on June 13. The release date is sparking rumors that the movie may premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, which takes place a month before.
