Who Wore What on the Croisette!

Pedro Pascal

Forget the films for a moment, because the Cannes red carpet has been serving up some serious fashion moments! Our "Runway Radar" is buzzing with the dazzling displays from global stars. From Angelina Jolie's timeless elegance to Natalie Portman's chic statements, and Emma Stone's (bee-dodging!) glamour to Pedro Pascal's undeniable cool, the Croisette has been a veritable catwalk. Even musical maestros Bono and The Edge swapped their stage gear for red carpet finery, proving that everyone brings their A-game to Cannes. It's not just about the movies; it's about making a grand entrance!

Beyond the glamour, the festival has addressed geopolitical themes, with screenings of Ukrainian documentaries.

Yara Shahidi, Halle Berry, and Nafessa Williams

Cannes maintains its commitment to sustainability, implementing eco-friendly initiatives. The Global Production Awards, held during the festival, recognized industry excellence, with "Touch" and "Love Hurts" among the winners for outstanding locations and sustainable production, respectively.

As the festival approaches its May 24th conclusion, anticipation builds for the announcement of the Palme d'Or and other prestigious awards.

Picturesque Paris: Spots for Your Summer in France!🥐

Le Train Bleu, featuring historic frescoes and highly-rated menus!

The Eiffel Tower, Moulin Rouge, the Louvre… Paris is no doubt home to some of the world’s busiest tourist spots and most iconic landmarks. Thankfully, some of this city’s most beautiful locations are further from the limelight, making them even nicer to see for yourself. Check out these hot spots on your next trip!

Le Train Bleu: “I enjoyed my meal at Le Train Bleu more than The Ritz!”— This review says it all! Reserve a table for a memorable night at one of the city’s most beloved fine dining spots.

Passage des Panoramas: Before malls, the cosmopolitan shopping centers of the world thrived in narrow passages of shops, restaurants, and lantern-lit social spots — Check out the eclectic vintage shops here, dating back to 1799!

Grande Mosquée de Paris: With over 14,000 5-star reviews, you might be wondering: “How is a towering mosque a hidden gem in Paris?” One step into the lush Moroccan gardens, spas, and restaurant, and you’ll see why. My favorite was the 90-euro package with a massage, body scrub, hammam, tea, and tagine dinner at the restaurant — such a treat!

Grande Mosquée de Paris is stunningly beautiful, inside and out.

L’Alchimiste Paris: I know exactly what you’re thinking — “Where can I get really good escargot and French food for less than 20 euros?” This quaint spot is wildly underrated and in the perfect location among the cozy streets of Le Marais

La Maison Rose: The neighborhood of Montmartre is a worthy stop on most Paris trips, but one iconic photo (even featured in Emily in Paris) is of this stunning pink bakery on a hill overlooking the city. Come for the views, stay for the pavlova!

Summer, for me, has always arrived with a heady rush. This week, I offer up a handful of readings that capture that feeling (and then some).

  1. The Rachel Incident O’Donoghue’s novel is witty and brilliant and heartfelt, her characters a total mess, their love so true in its fiction. It so perfectly captures that inane but irresistible desire for “future nostalgia, a rear-view, years-old fondness for something that had literally just happened.”

  2. “The Way Things Have Been Going Lately” Oh, Ada. “How do you hold / a river in your head,” she writes, “before it turns / straighter and black, unfolds into asphalt, / into some mean road rolled out before you.”

  3. “why time felt slower when we were kids (and how to get it back)” If you haven’t caught on by now, I love longing, and there’s nothing quite like longing for feelings lost to the hazy days of childhood. To reclaim it, this piece suggests, we must only “do what your childhood self did effortlessly: notice.”

Denzel Washington by the Los Angeles Times

The 78th Cannes Film Festival, running May 13-24, 2025, continues to captivate with its blend of cinematic artistry and star power. French icon Juliette Binoche leads this year's jury.

A major highlight was the presentation of Honorary Palme d'Or awards to screen legends Robert De Niro and Denzel Washington, celebrating their remarkable careers.

The competition for the Palme d'Or features 22 diverse films. Notable entries include Lynne Ramsay's psychological thriller "Die My Love," starring Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson, and Wes Anderson's star-studded "The Phoenician Scheme." Ari Aster's "Eddington" (with Joaquin Phoenix and Emma Stone) and Kristen Stewart's directorial debut "The Chronology of Water" have also garnered significant buzz.

The red carpet has been a dazzling display of global stars, from Angelina Jolie and Natalie Portman to Emma Stone and Pedro Pascal. Beyond the glamour, the festival has addressed geopolitical themes, with screenings of Ukrainian documentaries.

Cannes maintains its commitment to sustainability, implementing eco-friendly initiatives. The Global Production Awards, held during the festival, recognized industry excellence, with "Touch" and "Love Hurts" among the winners for outstanding locations and sustainable production, respectively.
