The Adore Short Film Festival is coming to Boylston Hall May as part of Harvard Arts Fest and you don’t want to miss this. It’s a two-day celebration of bold, student-driven storytelling, spotlighting short films across Boston (+ Brown University) that challenge norms, honor identity, and spark real conversation. 

The festival will also feature an exclusive fireside chat with Emmy Award-winning filmmaker John Alexander, who will share behind-the-scenes insight into his acclaimed documentary Little Satchmo, a powerful story about legacy, music, and untold histories.

Exclusive Fire Side Chat with John Alexander! 🎬

 John Alexander is an Emmy-winning director and editor whose work has been seen on PBS, Hulu, Epix, Sundance Channel, Amazon Prime, NFL Network, Paramount+, and on television and in cinemas worldwide. After graduating from Harvard University where he was awarded the McCord Arts Prize, his feature directorial debut Bender won a Golden Strands award before being distributed internationally.

John’s debut documentary, This Is Love broke attendance records screening at 50 international film festivals, winning over a dozen top international prizes. His PBS film Little Satchmo then won the Emmy for Outstanding Historical Documentary (Southeast, 2023). John has been a guest director at the American Film Institute, a voting member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in the USA, a jury member fort he History Film Festival in Croatia, and an invited filmmaker and instructor for the Southern Circuit of Independent Filmmakers, sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts. Co-owned with JC Guest, his company Crook & Nanny Productions offers full production and post-production services for narrative, documentary, commercial and industrial projects.
